AW Auto History
Eric Anderson Sr. and Terry Walsh worked together at McGrath Heritage Lincoln Mercury in Elgin in the mid 1980s. Eric and Terry appreciated the Mike McGrath family philosophy and the way they treated their customers. When Mike sold the dealership, Eric and Terry decided to take the opportunity to open their own business. They chose the Streamwood/Hanover Park area since Eric Sr. had many loyal customers and friends there dating to 1966.
The shop opened in 1987 at the original location a block away from where it stands now. Eric’s son, Eric Jr. (Rick), the current owner, joined the team as an apprentice. The three of them quickly built the business with honesty, integrity and quality service–all at the reasonable prices their customer’s appreciated.
They moved AW Auto Repair to the current location in 1993 after outgrowing the original. The company continued to grow, although Terry chose to move on to another path. Then, after the sudden loss of Eric Sr. in 1995, his son, Eric Jr. (Rick) continued his dad’s dream to serve his customers with their quality business. AW Auto Repair continues to build on the foundation of the reputation and success of Eric Anderson’s business thanks to the dedication, hard work and experience of Rick and his team.
